There is a local saying in Aomori, Japan,"If you have a Hiba furniture at home, insects will stay away from your house." This testifies to Hiba's powerful insect repellant properties. 
 
Hiba's aroma is woody. When dilued with plant oil, Hiba is useful against skin problems.
